The very gift of every culture is the experience of human. Folk tales are one of the majormeans which perfectly represent these mutual and universal yet differing experiences ofhuman situated in diverse social, cultural, political, geographical and anthropologicalareas and eras. So, this project covers folk tales from a variety of locations aroundEurope to represent the cultural diversities which constitute a matchless unity. Ourproject mainly focuses on creating cultural, multicultural and intercultural awareness,observing and appreciation of cultural diversity in unity, re-bridging the supposedlyexisting gaps among cultures, overcoming the prejudices and the sense of "othering",intolerance and the lack of communication. Thus, the project will help the individuals ofall ages to appreciate the riches of their own local cultural heritages as well as leadingthem to perceive themselves as an innate member of a greater whole by contributing tothe formation of a European citizenship identity. In order to present our focus, we intendto make use of folk tales from a variety of geographical locations by centring our studieson the similarities as well as the differences among morals, values, value judgments,traditions and images as represented in Folk Tales. End products will serve to displaythe riches of different native folkloric images as well as the shared cultural heritage ofhumanity by highlighting the unity and diversity. Our target groups provisionally coverthe students from primary/secondary schools, teacher trainee students, teachers usingliterature as material (as an in-service training), disabled children -especially audiallyand visually impaired -, parents and people who are interested in literature and culturalstudies.
