Nagymaros and Modry Kamen are situated in the same oecological area. The local chestnut stands are very famous(involved into NATURA 2000 pogramme) and important but they have been demaged by an introduced pathogen. The chestnut blight fungus is very virulent and the effective control requires local research and continous monitoring. The project partners would like to provide research, extension service and training for local people under the framework of this proposed project. Achievements: Nagymaros and Modrý Kameň are situated in the same ecological area. The local chestnut stands are very famous (included in the NATURA 2000 programme) and important but they have been damaged by an introduced pathogen. The chestnut blight fungus is very virulent and the effective control requires local research and continuous monitoring. The aim of the project was to provide research, extension service and training for local people to protect natural values. As a result of the project, the same research activity, workshops and trainings were carried out both on the Hungarian and the Slovakian side. Common project management structures and common databases as well as a joint regional extension service centre were created.
