1 on 1: Interpersonal relationship in youth work

nternational training course "1 on 1: Interpersonal relationship in youth work" will gather 32 participants from Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine and Armenia for one week in February 2016 in Lithuania. The project aims to develop individual youth work competence of youth leaders and youth workers to ensure better quality in Erasmus + projects. During the training course space will be created to develop individual youth work competences of youth leaders/ workers in order to foster inclusion and empowerment of young people with fewer opportunities. Participants will improve skills, attitudes, gain knowledge needed to work with youth individually: coaching youth initiatives, mentoring EVS projects, guiding youth in their professional or educational path. Specific objectives of the training are: 1. To explore the concept of individual youth work, inclusion and empowerment of young people with fewer opportunities 2. To develop individual youth work competences of youth leaders/workers from partner organizations in mentoring, coaching, open youth work, counseling, carrier development and planning of young people 3. To share good practices from partner organizations on different individual youth work methodologies for fostering inclusion and empowerment of young people with fewer opportunities 4. To develop high quality future international projects within Erasmus + 5. To create youth work support system with help of supervision in each partner organization. The target group of the project are youth leaders/workers working directly with young people (especially with fewer opportunity youth), who wish to improve their competences in individual youth work and create partnerships in youth field on international level. The trainers team will use maximum variety and creativity of the methods during the training course in order to ensure that participants can apply those methods back in their organizations and when working with young people in local communities. However, the emphasis during the training will be put on applying “individual youth work” theories, tools and methods. Other working methods will be: Workshops, Theoretical Inputs, Presentations,Group activities (group tasks/exercises), Small working groups, Buzz groups, Personal, group, and meta reflections, Simulations. The trainer team will be following non-formal education methodological principles and humanistic educational philosophy, experiential learning methodology. Balance between theoretical inputs, practical tasks, skill development and linking the learning of participants to their reality will be assured. Participants will learn how to empower young people and support learning process of individuals in their daily youth work. They will develop their personal methodological approach in individual youth work: by sharing experience participants will learn from each other new theories, approaches, educational methods and techniques youth workers will improve their ability to find individual approach to young people with different backgrounds, establish interpersonal relationships (of proper distance) and get in touch with young person on an emotional level. Youth workers will also reflect on and better understand their own values, beliefs, behaviours as professionals and identify competences that require further improvement.
