Video cameras are now used in many supermarkets and shops, mainly for security purposes. The data from such cameras are not largely used. This project purposes to interpret such data for analysing the behaviour of the customers visiting shops and supermarkets. From analysing video sequences we can found what products attract the interest of customers, in which order and whether customers have other activities in various areas of the shop. By using video processing, machine learning and human behaviour recognition, shops could organize better their spaces, while data can be extracted for markering various products. We currently have a project in learning human memories from images using computers and this is an area which can be used in advertising and producing spaces that are memorable for people. Our expertise is in video processing, machine learning and human activity recognition. content-based image retrieval. I am currently the leader of the project "Human Activity Recognition from Video Sequences," funded by Dstl, UK.
