Refresher course in the catering sector - Waiting staff organization and management

The project aims at creating a training course in the field of tourism to broaden the knowledge and enhance the skills of restaurant/café waiting staff. The course targets unemployed persons with a background in the tourist accommodationrestaurants sector from the eligible Italian and Slovenian cross-border Programme area. It consists of a number of seminars, workshops and apprenticeships with special emphasis on catering activities, in order to broaden and strengthen the tourist sector in the crossborder area. The restaurant waiting professional is a qualified worker who is able to deal seriously and autonomously - in the context of restaurants and commercial activities- with waiting at table and serving and selling food and beverages. According to company guidelines and in compliance with the relevant legislation in force, this figure is charged with the preparation and decoration of dining rooms and tables, with welcoming and advising the client, serving and executing particular operations in the presence of clients (e.g. to flambé, to cut,...), participating in the drawing up of beverages and wines lists and serving at banquets, preparing bills, receiving and dealing with complaints, etc. In this sense the project intends to contribute to the creation of a territorial network that is attentive to the needs of tourism and, particularly, to prepare qualified and skilled professionals in the cross-border labour market in the field of quality catering services and accommodation.
