Foothills itinerary (bicycle route)
Date du début: 30 juin 2005, Date de fin: 29 juin 2006 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The project envisages the creation of a bicycle track starting from Budoia and reaching the village of Montereale Valcellina, covering a distance of around twenty km. The project is part of a more complex plan that includes the future connection with Gemona del Friuli on the foothills of Udine. Gemona-Cividale del Friuli and Cividale del Friuli-Kobarid connections are also envisaged, while in the opposite direction Polcenigo and Caorle are going to be connected by a bicycle track: all these initiatives together will make it possible to connect the Slovenian territory with the Adriatic beaches. The bicycle track follows in general the existing railway line: a close interaction is therefore envisaged between the two means of transport, thus favouring possible interchanges at the railway stations that will also become key resting points along the bicycle track. Most of this itinerary resorts to existing roads, both paved roads to be used by residential traffic, and dirt tracks, where work is required in order to improve the road bed and to install proper signage, without increasing its section in order to maintain a close relationship between the bicycle track users and the surrounding territory. Infrastructural actions are limited to situations where user safety calls for specific technical arrangements, or to cases when required by the orography and morphology of the ground. This project intends to create a connection among architectural, cultural and environmental resources in the area, thus enhancing the tourist area at the foot of the hills near Pordenone in its entirety.
