Donner une vraie place à l'anglais dans notre école
Date du début: 1 juin 2015, Date de fin: 31 mai 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Give a true place to English in our school Debelle school is located in Voreppe near Grenoble (Rhône-Alpes). It is a school of 9 classes for 212 students with a teaching staff of 13 teachers. The teaching staff of the school wishes to heighten the level of English teaching in the school. They want to renew and share teaching practices and search for new tools and new ways to evaluate students (including oral). They have already planed to develop programming on various school cycles but would like to benefit from the skills acquired by a colleague who will go on training abroad in order to strengthen the practices in the school and enhance the teaching of English. Indeed, teachers have a little English but consider that their level is not sufficient (for this matter). However, they do not have the opportunity to participate in the Erasmus project. They chose Caroline BENISTAND to be the teacher candidate of languages to provide ways to improve their instruction through learning new tools and methods of teaching English as seen in the practices observed, and reporting examples from other trainees or exchange of services. Goals of this project (training) include: - discovering the culture of the country and its education system, - making contacts with educational institutions (abroad) and teachers abroad, - returning with the commitment of achieving a partnership between the school and one or more European schools. While improving her skills, Caroline (she) will also bring back and incorporate: - teaching and assessment tools, - ideas and examples (including teaching in English-speaking countries) - contacts in the English-speaking country to exchange e-mails between teachers and/or students. Caroline BENISTAND already teaches English in her class but the proposed project will improve her skill level through immersion in an English-speaking country, training courses in the use of English, and a visit to a British institution which will enable her to consider a different approach to teaching. By sharing her achievements she hopes to unite the school's teaching staff and motivate the teaching of English. She already has a personal experience hosting international students (two German students and a Canadian high school student), and she is committed to sharing her enthusiasm after this rich experience! At a time of globalization it is essential that English has its place in the elementary school system where children are still listening to their teachers. Sharing the experience of the teacher candidate will breathe new life into the teaching of English in our school. One dimension of our school project is the organization of communication situations and /or oral argument to develop the skills of our students to speak English at a suitable level in these contexts. The partnership project with one or more European schools will add a dimension of openness to Europe by developing students’ awareness of their status as European citizens.
