Anglo-Polish School Twinning Project
Date du début: 1 juin 2015, Date de fin: 31 mai 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The project was initially based on shared heritage. The RJ Mitchell Primary School is built on an important airfield from World War 2 and has rooms named ofter pilots. One of these rooms is named after Miroslaw Feric. The Polish school is also named after Miroslaw Feric and we were initially made aware of each other by his son. Initial contact led to a shared desire to work with and learn from each other. Mr Kevin Lee, Deputy Head and Mr Jim Morton, Chair of Governors, visited Poland in October 2014 in order to make first contact and begin to develop the partnership. Based on this and our work with eTwinning, we felt that a formal partnership based around the areas identified would be extremely positive in providing teachers with continuing professional development. Specifically, it would be extremely helpful to focus on Maths teaching, ICT and performing arts. All of these are areas where RJ Mitchell could develop their practice. Erasmus+ was identified as the best way of ensuring that this could happen in a meaningful way. The participants highlighted for the project will be 12. They are teachers and teaching assistants with a mixture of experience. All will benefit by experiencing the Polish system. The activities they will undertake will be based around observation, evidence gathering and discussions with colleagues from Poland. Action plans will then be produced based on need. This action planning will then be used to develop their teaching. The idea of a second, shorter visit, at least a term after the first, is to further refine actions in light of previous experience and to cement the long term relationship still further. A key part of the bid is around building a strong shared identity with the Polish school. To this end, two flags have already been produced with the logo of the two schools on them. One is in Poland, the other in the UK.
