Call description

Do you want to access new markets, technologies and skills? Do you want to gain recognition through your involvement in a large research project? Do you want to work with partners beyond national borders, developing new products or working on pre-competitive research?

Then PENTA is for you!

The PENTA purpose is to catalyse research, development and innovation in areas of micro and nanoelectronics enabled systems and applications where there is shared high national and industrial interest. Micro and nanoelectronics has been identified as a Key Enabling Technology for Europe and a cornerstone of key economic and societal developments.

At the start of the PENTA programme, the focus of the projects will be on applications in automotive, healthcare and production technologies. Nevertheless projects in areas not in the specified core focus areas may be considered, if pre-approved by the relevant Public Authorities that will be supporting such a project.

Eligibility criteria

PENTA supports projects that can be set up quickly and implemented in a manner that matches the specific needs of the project objectives and the participants. The main criteria in submitting a project are:

  • PENTA projects are industry driven, technically innovative and business oriented.
  • In all projects, partners from a minimum number of two countries covering at least an essential section of the total value chain are required. One country must be a EUREKA Member Country and another one either a EUREKA Member Country or a EUREKA Associated Country.
  • Project consortia can be composed of representatives from large industry, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), research institutes, universities and user organisations (profit or non-profit).

Funding details

PENTA financial support can be provided according to national funding procedures.

In order to prepare a successful proposal, project participant need to be aware that there may be significant differences in funding procedures depending on national rules. Therefore it is important to make sure that a project proposal fits within national public authorities' priorities and funding rules before submitting it to PENTA.
