CONTRACT SPECIFICATIONS

The Kingdom of Tonga consists of 169 islands clustered into three main groups, Tongatapu, Ha’apai, and Vava’u with a total population of about 104,000 people. Niuatoputapu is one of the two most northern islands situated at 597 kms from Tongatapu, the main island of Tonga.

On 30th September 2009, an earthquake of 8.3 magnitude, was felt in the island of Niuatoputapu, after which, three six meter tsunami waves struck the islands at three minutes intervals, travelling 600 meters inland, causing major impacts in Niuatoputapu including 9 people who died.

As a result of the tsunami, there were extensive damages to buildings and other infrastructure including the hospital. Buildings and other infrastructure have been restored however, the construction of a new hospital remains to be done.

This Contract will involve: i) Supply and construction of a new hospital building equipped with electricity, water and sanitation infrastructures, ii) Construction of one 3-bedroom staff residential building for the health - care staff equipped with electricity, water and sanitation infrastructure and iii) Provision of essential equipment such as generators.

Lot 2: Supply and construction of one 3 bedroom staff residential building equipped with electricity, water and sanitation infrastructures
