A propos

Dr. Caterina Ledda, (Infectious diseases, microbiology, and public health sciences, La Sapienza University of Rome), is a Senior Researcher of Occupational Medicine at the Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine, University of Catania (Italy).

From 2019, she is visiting professor at Faculty of Medicine, Department of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Riga Stradins University (Latvia).

Her research activities are oriented towards:

  • Prevention of Vaccine-Preventable diseases: occupational health vaccination program and legal basis for them. Screening for vaccine-preventable diseases in the occupational health setting and then addresses particular issues around hepatitis B, chickenpox, tuberculosis, measles, rubella, diphtheria, polio, mumps, and hepatitis A. Mitigation of Vaccine Hesitancy.
  • Workplace health promotion: reduce health risks and improve the quality of life for workers. Learn more about workplace health promotion and how to design, implement, and evaluate effective workplace health programs. the study of immune, metabolic, and molecular mechanisms in physiological aging and shift and night work
  • Occupational carcinogenesis: the study of carcinogenesis induced by exposure to environmental/occupational carcinogens such as asbestos, fibers, wood dust, volatile organic compounds. Evaluation of the cyto-genotoxic effect on cultured cells by evaluating signaling pathways, including epigenetic modifications. Cancer prevention and risk factors. Identification proteic and molecular biomarkers for the early diagnosis of work-related cancers.
  • Occupational epidemiology: involves the application of epidemiologic methods to populations of workers. Occupational epidemiologic studies may involve looking at workers exposed to a variety of chemical, biological, or physical agents to determine if the exposures result in the risk of adverse health outcomes.
  • Occupational molecular toxicology: the application of the principles and methodology of toxicology to understanding and managing chemical and biological hazards encountered at work. The objective is to prevent adverse health effects in workers that arise from exposures in their work environment.
  • Biological monitoring: measurement of a chemical, its metabolite, or a biochemical effect in a biologic specimen to assess exposure.

Caterina is a member of numerous national and international scientific societies and part of the editorial board of international scientific peer reviewed journals.

Finally, dr. Ledda is co-author of over 90 scientific papers published in peer-reviewed journals and today presents an H-Index of 20 (April, 2021).
